New Coca-Cola Flavor Promises to Taste Like the Future
A new flavor of Coca-Cola is rumored to be heading to shelves in the coming months, and it's unlike any soda out there.
Joining the latest lineup of Coca-Cola Creations is Coca-Cola Y3000, said to be co-created with artificial intelligence (whatever that means).
Word of the futuristic flavor first began circulating about four months ago when an insider leaked a photo of the can's design online and speculated that it would be out sometime this fall.
"The next Coke Creations is going to be called Y3000 and should come out in mid September," Reddit user saxbrack revealed in a post shared to the social media platform's Coca-Cola dedicated community on Wednesday, March 29.
In the months since, there's been no official word from the company confirming the new flavor, however, one reputable source has confirmed that Y3000 is destined to take off soon.
Instagram account CandyHunting, which regularly previews new and to-be-release fast-food menu items and snack options, debuted the soda's final design and packaging in a post uploaded to the picture-sharing platform on Tuesday, July 18.
"Future, future, future, fuutuure! New futuristic flavored Y3000 Coca-Cola will be out as the next Coca-Cola Creations variety," the caption revealed.
The account suggested that the new flavor is due to hit shelves sometime "after Ultimate," which is the current Creations flavor and available as a unique collaboration with League of Legends developer Riot Games.
At the time of Ultimate's release, a rep shared in a statement, "Coca?Cola Creations is all about creating unique and authentic experiences anchored in youth passions, and gaming is one of the largest and fastest-growing communities in the world."
Prior to that, the soda company "dipped its toes into space" with the launch of Coca-Cola Starlight, and previous Creations flavors included the pixel-flavored Byte, its limited-edition drink co-created with hitmaker Marshmello, and Dreamworld, which was said to taste like dreams–so seems like it was only a matter of time before AI got involved.
