Paul Giamatti Brings All the Laughs While Accepting Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical
They all managed to make us laugh, but there can be only one winner.
Tonight, Hollywood’s biggest stars gathered for the 2024 Golden Globes. During the 81st annual ceremony, Paul Giamatti won the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) for The Holdovers.
The actor beat out a majorly stacked category, including Nicolas Cage for Dream Scenario, Timothée Chalamet for Wonka, Matt Damon for Air, Joaquin Phoenix for Beau Is Afraid and Jeffrey Wright for American Fiction.

The Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) has been around since the ’40s, though it was originally combined with the Drama category. Previous winners include Colin Farrell for The Banshees of Inisherin, Andrew Garfield for Tick, Tick…Boom!, Sacha Baron Cohen for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Taron Egerton for Rocketman, Christian Bale for Vice, James Franco for The Disaster Artist, Ryan Gosling for La La Land, Matt Damon for The Martian, Michael Keaton for Birdman, Leonardo DiCaprio for The Wolf of Wall Street, Hugh Jackman for Les Misérables, Jean Dujardin for The Artist and Paul Giamatti for Barney’s Version.
Jack Lemmon currently holds the record for most nominations in this category, with a total of ten nods. He’s followed by Johnny Depp (nine), Walter Matthau (eight) and Dustin Hoffman (six).
Somebody get Giamatti a glass of Champagne. He seriously deserves it.
