College students' blind date goes viral due to extremely different interpretations
Two British students who went on a blind date for their university newspaper saw their interviews go viral thanks to their completely different interpretations of the night.
Danny Tapper and Sophia Kypriotis met in Newcastle, in northern England, as part of a feature for their student newspaper, the Courier. When the two were interviewed about the evening, Tapper said they weren’t compatible but that he had enjoyed himself. He described Sophia as a nice person and “easy to talk to.”
Meanwhile, Kypriotis had a very different take on things.
Calling Tapper “anti-feminist,” she told the newspaper that she had such an awful time she pretended her friend’s house was her own so she could escape the date early. She also spoke of her shock regarding what she called Tapper’s “sexist” and “misogynistic” views, claiming that he called feminism “toxic.”

Kypriotis went on to say she was confused when Tapper messaged her saying that he had enjoyed himself.
One member of the university shared the full clipping online, commenting, “Yikes.” Others also found it confusing that the two students saw the night so differently, and the post immediately garnered comments from people taking sides, or seeing both sides.
“Don’t see what the big deal is, they’re simply not compatible,” one person wrote.
“Oh my lord. How are schools still producing young men like this?” another said.
