Hoosier Hills Food Bank garden volunteering

Come help the Hoosier Hills Food Bank (HHFB) Garden at Will Detmer Park! They have one acre of land where they grow food for our community. Everything grown goes to over 100 partner agencies in six counties. Volunteers are needed on Mondays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to noon until Nov. 1. Groups of up to 20 are welcome! No experience or green thumb necessary. Volunteers should be between the ages of 8 and 85. Children need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All ages! Friendly visiting with seniors

Help Area 10 Agency on Aging and those they serve by becoming a Friendly Visitor! Choose from a variety of services to provide to homebound individuals with whom you are thoughtfully matched. This can be done in the client's home or on the phone. Examples include friendly visiting, grocery shopping, dog walking, meal prep and many others! A great opportunity for anyone wanting to brighten a life and help a person remain independent and safe at home. This is an exciting learning opportunity for students to develop social service skills such as building rapport, practicing confidentiality, and advocating with clients. Potential volunteers must attend an orientation and fill out an application/limited criminal history paperwork. Those under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Families are welcome! Administrative volunteers needed

SouthernCare Hospice provides care to patients and their families. An administrative volunteer provides support to office personnel through clerical and administrative functions. They may assist with answering telephones, filing, making copies, data entry or helping to create admission packets. The administrative volunteer must possess strong communication skills, be dependable, self-directed, and have the ability to work effectively as a member of a team. SouthernCare will train you as a volunteer through reading material and one on one experience. Background check and drug screening required. Founded in1997 by Sheryl Mitchell and Darin Bagley, Scaly Tailz is a reptile and amphibian education and rescue organization. Scaly Tailz offers fun and educational reptile demonstrations to a wide variety of classrooms, schools, libraries, expos, conventions, festivals, groups, daycare, elder care centers, health campuses and people. Scaly Tailz also takes in reptiles and amphibians that have been abandoned, as well as those that just need a new and loving home.
