Comedian Nick Swardson Offers Explanation, Apology After Being Pulled From Stage in Bizarre Incident

Comedian and actor Nick Swardson left audience members scratching their heads after a bizarre show on March 3. The Reno 911! star took the stage for a stand-up set at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek, CO, but he could barely get his jokes out before audience members began losing their cool and heckling him. After 20 minutes of struggling to speak on stage and repeating himself, Swardson was escorted away and attendees left disappointed.

Now, Swardson is explaining what exactly went wrong and how he plans to remedy the situation. In a social media post, he poked fun at the incident that made headlines and chalked it up to a combination of alcohol, cannabis, and Colorado's landscape.

"Just casually woke up on TMZ," he said. "Travel tip: don’t drink and take edibles in high altitude. F--king brain diarrhea." As for how he plans to fix it, Swardson promised to come back and give a proper show, vowing, "I’ll make it up to you, Beaver Creek!"

The venue reacted to the incident before Swardson did, offering refunds to customers who attended the show.

"We apologize for the negative experience you may have had at this evening's performance with Nick Swardson. Unfortunately, this show did not meet the Vilar Performing Arts Center's standards as a world-class presenter of the performing arts," an email to attendees read, per TMZ. "Therefore, all tickets will be refunded to the original payment method. Please accept our sincere apologies, and be in touch if there is anything we can do to further assist you."

Swardson has yet to announce when he'll return to Beaver Creek for a clear-minded re-do. His tour continues in Colorado at Belly Up in Aspen on March 5, Comedy Works in Greenwood Village from March 7–9, and Comedy Works in Denver on March 10.
