LaRae Lehto of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency discusses St. Louis River restoration projects, including the Thomson Reservoir Sediment Project. These efforts aim to improve the aquatic environment and protect human health by reducing contaminant exposure to bottom-dwelling organisms that move up the food chain. Lehto, of Carlton, is the contaminated sediment program coordinator for the MPCA.

Highway 33 public meeting, 6 p.m., Cloquet Middle School cafeteria. The Minnesota Department of Transportation will give a brief presentation on two state Highway 33 intersections in Cloquet: Carlton Avenue and Cloquet Avenue/Highway 45. After gathering feedback on alternatives and analyzing traffic and safety data, MnDOT will share info gathered since the last public meeting and the recommended alternatives for both intersections. MnDOT has a project planned in 2028 along the Highway 33 corridor from Big Lake Road/Doddridge Avenue to the St. Louis River bridge. For more info on the project, go to
