This Company Is Hiring Someone to Travel and Name Paint Colors
Ever wonder how paint colors get their names? Behr Paint has color experts who travel the world for insight on emerging color trends to name paint colors, and it’s looking to add to the team.
Here’s the deal: Behr Paint needs a “Color Explorer,” and the lucky person won’t just visit new places - they’ll get to truly experience them. If you can picture yourself kayaking the glacial blues of Lake Louise in Banff, Canada or taking in the view of Charleston’s Rainbow Row, this could be the job for you. You’ll capture notes and photos of the destinations and share the journey on social media and Colorfully, the brand’s blog. And, yes, you’ll help name actual paint colors.
“People are fascinated by the paint color-naming process. It requires a lot of time and creativity, because each name tells a micro-story about the specific shade,” Erika Woelfel, vice president of Color and Creative Services at Behr Paint, said in a press release.
Applying for the Color Explorer position is almost too easy. All you have to do is visit the job listing here. You’ll be asked to provide your name, where you’re from, and what color inspires you the most and why, in 150 words or less. All travel expenses will be covered and you’ll receive a $10,000 stipend. You have until May 15 to apply!
As long as you are at least 21 years old, a resident of the U.S. or Canada, have a valid passport to travel around the U.S. and Canada during summer 2019, as well as love colors and would love an unforgettable travel experience, you could very well snag the position.
Behr Paint already has paints by the name of “Crashing Waves” and “On Location,” so those are off-limits. Let this show you that dream jobs do exist and are attainable - you just have to go for it!
