The New York Post reports that the 1,187-foot cruise ship was docked at the Grand Bahama Shipyard near Freeport, Grand Bahama. It is unknown what caused the crane to topple onto the cruise ship, which typically departs from Port Canaveral, Fla.
Cell phone footage shared by Bahamas Press shows the aftermath of the accident, including workers accessing the damage, with metal pieces resting on the side of the ship.

A spokesperson for Royal Caribbean released the following statement to Yahoo Lifestyle.
“On Monday, we responded to a site incident at the Grand Bahama Shipyard, where Oasis of the Seas is currently in drydock. Shipyard management has informed us of eight injuries, none of them considered life-threatening. We are aware of damage to the dock structure and to construction cranes. We are assessing damage to the ship. Drydock is a maintenance procedure, and there are no guests aboard the ship.”
According to Trip Savvy, the Oasis of the Seas is one of the world’s largest cruise ships and can hold 6,296 guests with 2,165 crewmembers.
The ship’s name may ring a bell. The cruise ship made news in January when at least 227 people on board became sick with the norovirus during a 7-night trip to Jamaica.
According to WKMG, this was the vessel’s last voyage for the season, and it was being readied to be moved to Miami for Royal Caribbean’s fall and winter schedule.
