It’s a new year, and everyone’s decluttering. But don’t just think about weeding out what’s in your closet and cabinets. Consider streamlining your room by getting rid of extra furniture, too. Convertible furniture makes that easy to do, because it combines two or more functions in one piece, freeing up valuable floor space.

This stylish Transformable coffee table by Boulon Blanc practically transforms itself into a dining table or work space. Grab the tabletop by the edge and lift-the legs immediately spring up to just the right height for eating or using a laptop. And, just as quickly, you can pull a small handle with your fingertips and rotate the top, and it squats back down into a coffee table. Nifty! Plus, it’s light enough for one person to operate and move around, so you can plop it anywhere you like in all that space you now have.

Handcrafted in France, the table took two years of R&D to create. You wouldn’t know to look at it, but there are more than 300 parts involved-that’s the beauty of its deceptively simple, elegant design. Currently, it’s only available in Europe, but for other transformable furniture, check out Resource Furniture, which is one of the premier designers in the U.S.
