What to Cook This Week (November 11 to November 17)

Between brainstorming holiday gifts, designing Christmas and Hanukkah cards and stocking up on pumpkin puree for your famous pie, cooking dinner is the last thing on your mind. So this week, let’s keep things simple with delicious mains that make use of tons of pantry ingredients. (Hey, anything to save you a trip to the grocery store.) Here’s everything you need to cook dinner this week.

Shopping List:

1 whole chicken, about 5 pounds.
1 pork shoulder, about 6 pounds.
4 ounces slab guanciale, pancetta or bacon
1 pound halibut
1½ cups or 1 can cooked black beans
2 medium-sized sweet potatoes
4 yellow onions
3 pounds sweet onions
17 cloves garlic
2 carrots
1 zucchini
8 cups romaine lettuce
1 28-ounce can whole peeled tomatoes
2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
4 sprigs fresh thyme
1 bunch fresh parsley
4 anchovies
2 tablespoons capers
½ lemon
8 ounces burrata cheese
1½ cups shredded Gruyère cheese
¾ cup + ¼ tablespoon freshly grated Parmesan
¼ cup Parmesan cheese, cut into ribbons
1 cup rolled oats
8 ounces mezzi paccheri pasta
¼ cup shelled pumpkin seeds
⅓ cup dry white wine
1 French baguette
4 cups bread cubes

Pantry Ingredients:

Salt, freshly ground black pepper, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, red wine vinegar, ground cumin, smoked paprika, ground coriander, crusted red pepper flakes, unsalted butter, maple syrup, chili powder, ground dried chipotle pepper, saffron, turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, bay leaves, beef stock, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sour cream, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard.

Monday: One-Pan Moroccan Fish

Start the week on a positive note with this flavorful Moroccan-inspired dish. Along with turmeric and cinnamon, you’ll get a cayenne and red pepper kick that brings heat to the flaky white fish and savory tomatoes.
