Coolinary 2024: Toups’ Meatery
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — You may be familiar with Toups’ Meatery. They served over 61,000 meals this summer to kids across New Orleans for free.
Now, they’re serving up a special menu for Coolinary.
Chef Isaac Toups is the brains behind the menu. He’s a James Beard semi-finalist and even appeared on Top Chef Season 13. He says he’s participated in Coolinary about 20 times now.

He told WGNO’s Amy Russo what his restaurant, Toups’ Meatery, is featuring during Coolinary.
“We have a wonderful array of new appetizers, new entrees so that people can come in for a bit cheaper price, but also give the restaurants a bump in business,” said Toups. “It’s a win/win opportunity for everybody.”
His restaurant will be featuring a Coolinary brunch, Coolinary lunch and Coolinary dinner menu.
“For appetizers, we are doing red pepper pork belly rillettes. Delicious little canape, pork belly rillettes topped with green olives on crostini,” said Toups.

For lunch, Toups prepared a seared tuna sandwich with caponata, arugula and a lemon vinaigrette.
“And for dinner with have seared scallops with white pepper, creamy black eyes peas and an herb salad,” said Toups.
“My restaurant is unique because I’m an absolute nut job and I only cook what I like. So, I might be cajun but I like cooking things from around the world, and I like taking the governor’s plate off the food and ignore all the rules and just make you delicious food and sometimes break the rules.”
Toups says if you want something unique, contemporary Cajun and absolutely delicious, come to Toups Meatery.
In addition to the food, you’re also going to get a third course- dessert. Your options are ice cream or lemon poppyseed cake. Lunch is $28, brunch and dinner are $58.
