Copenhagen Street Style: It’s a Jean Shorts Summer
The street style at Copenhagen Fashion Week held up its reputation for being an incubator of It-girl trends and eclectic style. The event, held Aug. 5-9, brought out decorated denim, high-low styling and new silhouettes.
Jean shorts emerged as a must-have trend. The roomier the fit, the better with attendees favoring knee-length styles with pleats, boxy cuts and finished hems. The jorts were paired with everything from tall riding boots and strappy stilettos to fringe suede jacket and dad-style polo shirts.

The trend for wide-leg jeans continued. Slouchy iterations—often worn low—dominated the fashion week, adding a touch of laid-back nonchalance to otherwise elevated looks. The jeans puddled over shoes, even the cuffed versions.
Utility and carpenter jeans were present but took a back seat to bolder styles. Cow-print, colorful gemstones, fringe, grommets and cutouts were some of the ways show-goers decorated their jeans.
There were fewer basic denim maxi skirts compared to previous seasons. Instead, the fashionable crowd styled miniskirts over long button-down shirts, shredded circle skirts and off-the-shoulder jean dresses.
