Cops Visit Britney Spears' Home Following Viral Knife Dancing Video
Britney Spears' recent video dancing with knives earned her more than just a few headlines, but also a visit from the local police.
New reports reveal the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) received a call for a welfare check on the "Gimme More" songstress after she shared footage of herself spinning, twirling and dancing around her living room while holding a pair of knives on social media.
A statement from the LAPD, first shared with TMZ on Thursday, Sept. 28, confirmed that the call was made on Wednesday by someone who claimed to know the 41-year-old pop star personally and not just a fan, as authorities explained they won't make welfare checks on behalf of fans.
According to the outlet, the LAPD Smart Team (a group that handles mental evaluations) spoke with a member of the singer's security team upon arriving at her home, who assured them that Spears was in good health but didn't want to speak to the deputies.
The cops eventually left, and Spears' attorney reportedly called law enforcement later that day, inquiring about the visit.
Spears hasn't publicly addressed the recent police presence at her home but has continued to post online in defense of what some consider dangerous dancing.
"Lighten up about the knives," she shared in a Sept. 26 Instagram post. "I’m copying Shakira ?? !!!"
Spears also attempted to clear up any confusion, suggesting the knives she was dancing with were a part of her Halloween decor collection. But new footage has since revealed what appeared to be fresh cuts on the singer, sparking all new concern among fans.
