#CopyThat: Lucy Hale’s Vamp Burgundy Lip
On our list of brunette beauties we turn to for inspiration, Lucy Hale ranks pretty high. Whether she’s rocking beachy waves and soft smoky eyes or star hair appliqués and metallic blue lipstick, the 27-year-old switches up her style effortlessly. But one of her best beauty moments so far has to be this vamp burgundy lipstick look. The high-sheen finish complements her overall bronze glow and accentuates her ombré hair color.
Check out the video above to watch New York City-based makeup artist Jen Navaro put her own spin on Hale’s vamp lips, and keep reading for more pro tips and product recommendations.
Step-by-step instructions
Groom brows with a spoolie, brushing upwards to “lift” the face.
Prep lids for makeup with Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion.
Use a brown eyeliner to outline the upper and lower lids. Navaro’s go-to is Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner in Sumatra. Blend the color out with a small shadow brush.
Apply a rose metallic eyeshadow (try Stila’s Eyes Are the Window Spirit Shadow Palette) to upper lids. Make sure to blend and smudge the same shade along lower lash line.
Then add a deep copper shade, starting at the outer corners of eyes. Work toward the center of lids and smooth underneath lashes.
Complete eye makeup with a light dusting of an iridescent bronze along the inner tear ducts and underneath brows (adds highlight to the eye).
Use tweezers to apply Urban Decay’s Urban Lash individuals. Pro tip: Test the length of a set of falsies by placing on the outer corners of eyes. Depending on your eye shape, you’ll need two to three pairs.
Coat bottom, then top lashes with Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara to avoid getting marks on eyelids. Allow it to dry for at least 10 seconds before adding a second coat to top lashes to really make them stand out. Pro tip: Use a facial tissue to wipe off mascara wand if it turns clumpy to make it fresh again.
Swipe on NARS Ingrid Audacious Lipstick and fill in lips with a brush for a seamless finish.
Contour and warm up face with bronzer. We recommend the Rimmel London Kate Sculpting and Highlighting Glow Kit.
Take a fluffy brush and NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder to reduce any shine and set makeup.
