Corgi Beach Takeover returns to Seaside this weekend for a second year
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – If your dream is to spend a day with hundreds of short-legged, round-butted corgis, you’ll want to make your way to the Oregon Coast this weekend.
Dogs and owners from Oregon, Washington, California and Canada are expected to attend the annual Corgi Beach Takeover, which will be held in Seaside for a second year in a row after taking over Cannon Beach for nearly a decade.

This year will feature costume contests, races, a silent auction, and dozens of raffle items in a fundraiser for thousands of shelter pets at the Oregon Humane Society. According to the shelter, the corgi meetup is one of their most important fundraising events.
“You can’t help but smile when you attend Corgi Beach Takeover – it’s cuteness overload on a whole new level,” OHS Events Manager Shelby Hollenbeck said. “Plus, you can smile knowing that your registration is supporting the lifesaving programs at Oregon Humane Society.”

Last year, the event brought in over $16,000 for the humane society.
The event will take place on the Seaside beach between the roundabout off Broadway Street and Second Avenue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 29.
Tickets cost $10 and all purchases come with a 2024 Corgi Beach Takeover sticker, a costume contest sign-up, and “a front-row seat to some of the floofiest, sandiest, corgi butts you have ever seen.”
However, access to the race is only guaranteed for the first 128 ticket buyers.
