What the Costco Bakery Section Looks Like in France
France is home to some of the world's finest wine, bread and cheese, not to mention the Champs-élysées, the Eiffel Tower, unreal fashion, Normandy's rich history or that lady named Mona Lisa.
But grocery fans might want to add one more stop to their travel list: Costco, and the bakery section in particular.
If you're starting at your screen like it has five heads, why don't you direct your gaze toward this recent Instagram post from @costcobuys instead? The Costco enthusiast's account served up a heaping helping of wanderlust-worthy content in a video showcasing so many delicious desserts from a warehouse in France.

"Any of these catch your eye?" asked the creator in the caption.
How about all of them? The video pans to cream puffs that look positively and perfectly flaky, tarts with a fluffy (and probably tangy-sweet) topping, donuts, flan, carrot cake and more.
"How about putting them in America?" a follower commented.
Or how about booking a trip to France? (Costco Travel can help you book it, for what it's worth.) Here are more delectable deets on the bakery section in Costco France.

How Many Costcos Are In France?
Two. One, Costco Villebon-sur-Yvette, is situated about 13 miles south of Paris. Another, Costco Wholesale Pontault-Combault, is in an eastern suburb around 12 miles from the City of Love's center.
About 10 years ago, Costo indicated that they planned to open 15 units in France by 2025, but that hasn't come to fruition and (sadly) seems unlikely right now.

What Travelers Love About Costco France
The recent Instagram post by @costcobuys isn't the first time people have brought up the French version of the Costco bakery.
A Reddit thread from 2020 called it "pretty much heaven on earth." Costco France's Instagram account provided some pandemic-era food porn that same year, posting a snap of "Chocolate Hazelnut Banana Pancakes covered in White Chocolate" that still has us drooling in 2023.

"I need this," commented one fan.
Last year, a Redditor visited one of the Costcos in France and posted their haul.

"I'm going to guess that croissants taste better in France even if they're actually the same," commented one person.
"They sure do," the original poster replied, adding as a side note, "What's interesting is that the fries don't leave that greasy residue in your fingers as fries in the U.S."
More recently, the Costco France account posted the same lemon tarts heralded by @costcobuys.

"Want to treat yourself this weekend with a little pastry?" the caption reads. "Why not try our Lemon meringue tartlets...For your health, eat at least five fruits and vegetables a day."
The lemon counts as fruit, right? If they were anything like the lemon cheesecake, which our reviewer called the "perfect summer dessert," the tartlets likely flew off the shelves.
All in all, American Costco shoppers would love a little taste of France closer to home, especially with peak travel season fading into the distance.
"Once again, Costco, Americans like these desserts too," wrote someone in @costcobuys' comment section.
"For the love of sugar, come to [the U.S.]," begged another fan.
"I’m peanut butter and jealous that you have these," quipped another.
"Whole carrot cake — wow," said another. "I wait all year for the mini carrot cake cupcakes for Easter — so good! All-year full-size cakes would be fabulous."
"Take me with you next time," pleaded another fan on behalf of all of us.
For now, we'll take solace in the new strawberry ice cream at the food court on this side of the pond.
