Costco Is Selling a $60 Version of the Fan-Favorite Le Creuset Dutch Oven, and Shoppers are Clearing the Shelves
Hooking yourself up with an enamel cast iron Dutch oven is a great way to start upgrading your at-home kitchen. The quality and weight alone makes a Dutch oven feel like a tool that you will have forever — not to mention it has the ability to take everyday classic recipes to an entirely new level. Finding a great quality Dutch oven does come at a cost, however, with brands like Le Creuset costing you hundreds of dollars even when on sale.
Despite the high price of name-brand Dutch ovens, some affordable options do exist and they still work very similarly. Aldi, for example, recently made its own version of an enamel cast iron Dutch oven and its $30 price point nearly broke the internet. Now, Costco has entered the game with a set of two cast iron Dutch ovens for just $59.99 and as a result, shoppers just don't know what to do with themselves.

Spotted originally by Angela over at Costco Guide, the 3.5-quart and 5.5-quart Tramontina set is available in either white or red, both of which feature a gold handle and have a remarkable resemblance to that of Le Creuset. “It looks so similar to my Le Creuset one!” Angela wrote in her caption. “I may need to get this set to compare.”

For those who are unaware, Tramontina is a brand which was founded in the south of Brazil in 1911 and makes a wide variety of kitchen items. The same combination of Dutch ovens seen in Costco are also available on Amazon, though for more than twice the price. This means that Tramontina may very well be making the price of the set exclusively for the popular membership warehouse. And with such a drastic price difference, there's a chance that the quality of the Costco version may be slightly off from that of the set available on Amazon.

“Anyone know how well they perform?” one curious Costco member questioned. “Saw these the other day but I'd rather spend a few more dollars on one high quality than 2 mediocre ones.” Another user who was already familiar with the Tramontina brand weighed in with their two cents stating, “So Tramontina is a great brand in its own right, there’s no need to call it a Le Creuset dupe.”
A second fan of the Brazilian brand offered up their experience to help sway potential buyers saying, “We all know Le Creuset is great. But honestly, I have the 5.5 quart Tramontina at home and I love it!” They continued, “It’s beautifully made and holds up to whatever I throw at it. So scoff if you will, but if you don’t feel like spending hundreds of dollars, these are definitely worth the try!”
There’s nothing like hands-on experience in the form of feedback to help when deciding on new kitchen products. We all want to have our cake and eat it too, and thanks to Costco and its dedicated army of members, there are people out there willing to do the research for you. So when it comes time to pull the trigger on your new Dutch oven, why not trust the everyday people who shop at Costco? Plus, if the $60 version turns out to be a dud, at least in the end it didn’t break the bank, right?
