Costco may not seem like the place to score a super rare bourbon, but some shoppers have been reporting seeing bottles of Blanton's single-barrel bourbon on shelves. And while the award-winning premium bourbon, which touts itself as the "world's first single barrel whiskey," typically retails for as much as $150, you'll pay much less than that at Costco—if you can find it.

Distilled at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky, Blanton's is popular due to its palatably sweet flavor profile with notes of citrus and oak. According to the Blanton's website, "the creamy vanilla nose is teased with caramel and butterscotch, all underscored by familiar baking spices such as clove, nutmeg, or cinnamon."

As Chowhound notes, sightings of Blanton's single-barrel have popped up on Reddit as recently as a few weeks back, with one eagle-eyed shopper spotting the highly-coveted whiskey at a Washington D.C. area location for just $59.99, at a limit of one bottle per membership.

But aside from the recent D.C. Blanton's drop, the whiskey has been turning up at other Costco locations throughout recent months. Two months ago, another Redditor saw it on sale at a Santee, CA Costco for just $56.99; and shortly before that another Costco shopper bragged that they scored the last bottle at a Burbank, CA Costco for $56.89. Just under a year ago, yet another Costco member reported seeing it on sale at a Northridge, CA location for the eye-popping price of $46.99.

Unfortunately, while most of these sightings came from California, finding a rare spirit at Costco is also dependent on state liquor laws—as not every Costco sells alcohol and not every Costco that sells alcohol sells hard liquor. But for whiskey aficionados who are fortunate enough to live in a state that sells both, it's certainly worth perusing the spirits aisle on your next visit.
