Costco's New Controversial Food Court Item Doesn't Actually Exist
If there are two things Costco fans take seriously, it's new items to hit the bakery and every item that makes its way to the food court. While the most underrated menu item at Costco's food court is debatable, what wasn't was the outrage shared by many social media users when an image of the newest item to hit the menu began making its rounds.
Initially posted on Reddit and said to be spotted in South Bakersfield, California, user DGCA3 shared a photo of an updated menu including the new addition: a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Said to be made with creamy peanut butter and strawberry jelly, the nostalgic eat — which was offered up on white bread — was priced at a whopping $2.99.

Taken aback by the somewhat hefty price for the regular sandwich, many Redditors didn't hold back about how disappointed they were with the item. "$3? That isn’t very “Costco” of them," one person wrote. "Costco will add anything but the combo pizza," said another while someone else noted, "I can't imagine being willing to pay $3 for a PB&J, idk why but if it was $2 it wouldn't seem like such a stretch, but $3 is just ridiculous in my book."
Receiving more than 500 (mostly disgruntled) comments about the item, it wasn't long before a user — who noted that they actually work at the location where the sandwich in question is supposedly on the menu — revealed that the photo is actually fake.

And afterwards, the original poster owned up to photoshopping the photo stating that they created the post to have "a little fun."After seeing that roast beef sandwich, I wanted to go in another direction and mock up something super plain," they wrote.

So, if there's one thing you can count on real Costco fans to do, it's get to the bottom of anything that doesn't seem right when it comes to their beloved warehouse. And if you ask me, it's a true service for us all. Now, if we can just get them to convince the warehouse to bring back the combo pizza!
