You Could Become The Owner of A Gorgeous, Rustic Italian Villa For Free
Escaping to the Italian countryside and living in a beautiful secluded villa might seem like a far-off fantasy, but it just got so much easier-and free. No, we're not kidding: all you have to do is enter a raffle to chase your travel dreams.The prize? a three-story stone house with a sunny garden located on the edge of Carapelle Calvisio, a village in rural Abruzzo’s Gran Sasso national park. It's a beautifully-restored home with terra cotta floors, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an open fireplace.
Current owner-and master home renovator- Jamie Abbott decided to hold the contest because she's itching to move out and, according to the contest website, hasn't had luck finding a buyer via the traditional method.
Don't take the current owner wanting out as a warning sign, though: "We have the renovation bug and want to move on to the next project," Abbott tells House Beautiful. "We’ll stay in this wonderful area."
The top prize doesn't just include ownership of the villa, either. Abbott is also offering to pay for the notary fees, taxes, two flights from anywhere in Europe for the signing, two nights’ accommodation and two days’ car hire for the raffle winner.
If you're not named the winner, don't worry-there are still two more prizes for the second and third runners-up. The second place winner will receive ￡10,000 ($13,152) and the third place winner will get a hamper filled with local Italian wine and food-both great consolation prizes, if you ask us.
Unfortunately, all of the 6,000 raffle tickets for this Italian villa are sold out. The winner will be announced on Saturday, June 29. But, Abbott revealed that they will definitely be giving away another home soon, and that they have a gorgeous house already in mind. Be on the lookout!
