A country bistro closes in Westchester
The Barn at Bedford Post, a country bistro serving novel takes on classic American dishes, has closed.
The Bedford restaurant, known for its seasonal cuisine under the direction of Roxanne Spruance, a critically acclaimed “Chopped” winner and frequent national TV contributor who took over the kitchen in 2020, shut down earlier this year.
A message on their website thanked the community for three-plus years of patronage.

There's word a new food operator will be taking over but nothing solidified at this time. The Barn was part of the Bedford Post Inn, a Relais & Chateaux property originally founded in 2007 by actor Richard Gere and his then wife Carey Lowell and business partner Russell Hernandez. In the early days, diners often saw the celebrity couple while dining. In 2014, the restaurants were taken over by the Altamarea Restaurant Group, which signed a long-term lease.
The more upscale Farmhouse, the host of many events, weddings and celebratory meals, has been closed since the pandemic. Both eateries were housed in a 1700s-era farmstead complete with a luxury inn and yoga studio (Gere and Lowell are no longer involved with the restaurants).
Though Westchester is exploding at the moment with new openings (watch lohud for up-to-date-details), there are still a number of restaurant closings. Four recently closed in Westchester, with five in Rockland.
In unrelated news, the Bedford inn property was recently part of a cellphone tower issue.
