Pink, or "Pank" as Brad Paisley teased early in the evening, took to the stage at Wednesday night's 2017 CMA Awards to perform "Barbies" off her new record Beautiful Trauma, and the reviews-among country music fans, at least-were mixed.

Some viewers, like professional wrestling personality Vickie Guerrero, loved the performance, and the audience gave Pink a standing ovation.

But others were left scratching their heads.

"Somebody help me out here...@Pink on #CMAawards. Why?"@Beachic tweeted.

The pop artist's appearance had country music journalists confused too. "Why Is Pink Performing at the CMA Awards?" asked a Nov. 1 headline over at The Boot. The article examines the three-time Grammy winner's connections to the genre, from her CMA Awards-nominated duet with Kenny Chesney to the fact that her latest single, "What About Us," was co-written and produced by Steve Mac, who also wrote Trace Adkins' "Help Me Understand" and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's "The Rest of Our Lives."

Oh, and to the folks asking when Pink became a folk singer? That's #legit. It started more than 10 years ago, according to The Boot, when the Indigo Girls collaborated on Pink's 2006 album I'm Not Dead and she reciprocated later that year for their album, Despite Our Differences.
