'Craziness': Brawl over crab legs at buffet restaurant caught on video
A brawl broke out in a Chinese restaurant in Queens, N.Y., last month, and a video of the altercation shows multiple people shoving and hitting one another when the buffet’s coveted crab legs came out. One of the people involved told the New York Post that things got heated when another woman pushed her 10-year-old son with her hip.
“I was like, ‘Can you please do me a favor? I would appreciate it if you kept your hands off my child.’ And the mother comes over and she was like ‘You already had the first two batches,’” Christine, 39, told the Post.
Donna Brown was eating at the restaurant at the time and caught the brawl on video.
“Craziness,” Brown says in a Facebook live video. “They throwing glass around. This is getting real now.”
Christine told the Post that she left the restaurant with a bleeding neck, bruises all over her body, and a bald spot where someone ripped out her hair.
No arrests were made, but 10 people are wanted by the police for starting the fight, according to Fox News. Police were apparently unable to confirm that the fight broke out over crab legs.
The restaurant’s manager, Budi Chan, told the Post that this wouldn’t be the first time the buffet’s crab legs caused a scuffle, though.
“Mostly the customers argue with the crab legs because when the crab legs come out people just rush and take them,” Chan said. “If we have a few guests when they come out, after maybe one or two minutes [the crab legs are] gone.”
A similar brawl actually broke out in Alabama last month when customers were waiting for crab legs at a buffet restaurant. Police said diners were using service tongs like fencing swords and a woman was beating a man. Two people were ultimately charged with assault and disorderly conduct.
