Creepy photo of White House Christmas decorations goes viral
The White House released a video of Melania Trump preparing the presidential residence for the holidays on Monday -- and one photo of the ornate decorations has people freaking out.
Stephanie Grisham, the White House director of communications for the first lady, tweeted out a sneak peek of one of the White House chambers in all its festive glory on Sunday.
Grisham's photo shows multiple tall bundles of white twigs lining a long hallway that leads to a fully-decked-out Christmas evergreen.
Unfortunately, the particularly spooky lighting and angle of Grisham's photo make the White House look more like a haunted house than a winter wonderland.
Naturally, Twitter is having an absolute field day.
A photoshop battle even erupted over the eerie photo, with references ranging from "The Shining" to "The Babadook" -- not even Ivanka Trump's Thanksgiving clamshell was spared from the jokes.

Thankfully, once the Christmas display was properly lit, it went from mildly spooky to absolutely stunning.
This year's theme of "Time-Honored Traditions" was designed by first lady Melania Trump to pay respect to 200 years of holiday traditions at the White House.
