Cumberland County Fire Department to celebrate 50 years June 8

Jun. 4—The Cumberland County Fire Department began operating as the first county-wide volunteer fire department in January 1974. It was developed through a partnership between the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Cumberland County Commission.

The Cumberland County Fire Department is honoring its 50th anniversary Saturday, June 8, with a community celebration.

The celebration will be at the Cumberland County Community Complex at 1389 Livingston Rd. from 4 to 8 p.m. and will feature food, fun and games for people of all ages.

The will be a chili cook off with chili made by county fire fighters and their families. Chili will be available for purchase at $5 per bowl, $2 hot dogs, dessert and drinks will also be available.

There will also be special guests on hand to judge the chili.

Children are welcome and there will be bounce houses, live music and games including corn hole, horseshoes, and others.

A special slide show featuring pictures of firefighters from the past all the way up to current day will be shown.

The public is welcome to come and enjoy the fun and festivities with the Cumberland County Fire Department this Saturday, June 8.
