This curled hair meme has men everywhere stumped
A viral meme poking fun at relationships and dating has left men everywhere feeling stumped.
When Payton Hicks, from the U.S., posted before-and-after pictures of her roommate’s curled hair to Twitter, and captioned them “you vs the girl he cheats with,” the 18-year-old beautician trainee sparked an online frenzy that seemed to highlight gender differences.
Since the witty meme was uploaded this month, it has racked up almost 25,000 retweets and received hundreds of comments.
But while many female Twitter users responded with knowing “lols” and laughing face emojis, men were left scratching their heads about the joking comparison.
“Can someone enlighten me?” one confused man wrote.
“Wat does it mean :(” asked another.
“Is it because the right one is fake curls or something it looks like some fine pasta,” one man posted.
For anyone still in the dark about the joke, a female Twitter user was on hand to explain.
“It means that the girl yo man cheats with downgrades and gets the uncombed stiff 8th grade girls,” she explained.
And Payton herself was able to clear up all confusion during an interview with Buzzfeed, when she explained that the snap on the right was meant to look bad.
“My method for curling clients’ hair is creating ugly ringlet-type curls that I then brush to make beachy beautiful waves,” she explained.
“I was laughing and joking with [my roommate] about how bad they look before I brush them.”
“It makes it more fun that all of us girls can have, like, a secret inside joke against guys, and they have no clue what it means.”
This is not the only thing that men have been confused about of late. A recent survey revealed that half of all men don’t actually know where the vagina is located. Wait, what?
According to a survey of 1,000 men by the Eve Appeal, when showed a diagram of the female anatomy — the vulva, vagina, cervix, ovaries, and Fallopian tubes — only 500 of them could label the vagina correctly.
No wonder they didn’t get the meme.
