Curvy Model Robyn Lawley Covers Herself in Empowering Statements
Supermodel Robyn Lawley is going very public with her beliefs in a new #wordsthatmatter campaign.
If the caption “Project time” on her latest Instagram post is any clue, Lawley’s newest venture is tapping into her passions. In the behind-the-scenes selfie, Lawley is stripped down and covered in descriptive words like “environmentalist,” “mother,” and “creative.”

Her strategically placed cell phone case seems to be covering up even more descriptors on her stomach. While more information on the campaign won’t come to light until it’s released, this is actually a very Internet-y practice. Popular bloggers have taken to expressing themselves in the form of wearing their words quite literally on their sleeves.
The tactic is often adopted to raise awareness for issues that can seem invisible, such as mental health issues or sexual assault. For Hayley, otherwise known as @inner_love_x, the words “abused,” “ugly,” and “alone,” combined with the stark statistic that one in four women and one in six men in the United Kingdom will be sexually abused during their lifetime (in the United States, a person is sexually assaulted every 98 seconds), creates a powerful visual statement.

For model Stella Sieger, the words express body positivity. “Selbst liebe” translates to “self-love,” the heart of the body positive movement. Sky James also adopted the tactic. She shared an honest truth: “Today my self-talk has not been the greatest,” and worked to fight the negative thoughts by reminding herself, “I’m enough.”
As these bloggers can teach, there are no right thoughts, words, or even languages to write; it’s simply about telling yourself what you need to hear — and then sharing it with the rest of the world. What would you write?
