Cynthia Erivo Stars in Trailer for Drift

Utopia has shared the trailer for Drift, a film starring Cynthia Erivo as Jacqueline, who escapes her war-torn country to a Greek island. She meets an unmoored tour guide, and the two become close as they each find hope in the other.

Alia Shawkat, Ibrahima Ba, Zainab Jah, Suzy Bemba, Abigail Boyd, Vincent Vermignon, Luca Calvani, Amanda Drew, Dorotea Mercuri, Jonathan Rhodes and Honor Swinton Byrne also join the cast.

Directed by Anthony Chen and written by Susanne Farrell and Alexander Maksik, the film is based on Alexander Maksik's novel A Marker to Measure Drift.

The film played at Sundance earlier this year, where critics called it "solemn and stirring" and "heartbreaking and sincere", and Erivo was praised for her "intuitive and understated" performance.

Drift also features an original song, which is teased in the trailer, called "It Would Be", which is written and performed by Cynthia Erivo and Laura Mvula.
