Daisy Ridley Reveals Surprising New Hairstyle

Daisy Ridley’s new hairstyle for Star Wars: Episode VIII is veiled under so much secrecy that she recently exercised in between shooting scenes with a pillowcase over her head. But now that she’s done filming, the actress has stepped out with an entirely new — and dramatic — ‘do.

At the Teen Choice Awards, Ridley showed off a freshly dyed, cropped bob (with added side bangs, nonetheless) while accepting the award for Choice Movie Chemistry in the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens with her co-star John Boyega.

The new style is a much edgier look than her previous dark brown hair, prompting speculation as to whether or not the look is in preparation for an upcoming film. According to Ridley’s IMDb page, she has a lot going on in the next few months. She’s been announced for the upcoming films Kolma, Ophelia, and The Lost Wife, all or none of which could require such a style.

But it’s also entirely possible the 24-year-old simply wanted to test out something new. Other celebrities, like Selena Gomez and Dakota Johnson recently got highlights for no other reason than to switch things up for summertime, so maybe Ridley’s doing the same.

Regardless of her reasoning for making the major hair change, it’s a great look for her. And we can’t wait to see what other style transformations she has in store for us in the future — most especially what’s hiding underneath that pillowcase.
