Danny Devito and Ex Rhea Perlman Embrace While Reuniting With 'Taxi' Co-stars
The cast of Taxi reunited to support Rhea Perlman on the opening night of her play Let's Call Her Patty—including ex Danny DeVito.
Photographer Bruce Glikas snapped a sweet moment between the former couple, as they embraced at the party for the premiere. In the photo, Perlman and DeVito are smiling while facing each other, with Perlman placing her right arm over her ex's shoulders.
Another photo taken by the same photographer features Perlman and DeVito posing with their Taxi co-stars Tony Danza and Carol Kane.
Though DeVito and Perlman split in 2012 after 30 years of marriage, Perlman revealed in May to Julia Louis-Dreyfus on podcast Wiser Than Me that the pair never actually divorced despite their separation.
"Danny and I, we are still married… and we are still very good friends and we see each other a lot. And our family is still the most important thing to both of us," she confessed.
The Cheers alum opened up about their relationship, noting, "I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, it was very difficult at first." She continued, "There were a lot of reasons that we separated… It took time for us to come to this somehow pretty decent understanding and relationship with each other."
In a recent interview with Parade, DeVito shared the current status of his dynamic with Perlman. "We’re like this! [He puts two fingers together]. We’re thick as thieves. We’re really close and see each other a few times a week and have dinner and breakfast," he said.
The It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star added, "We just became grandparents, so now we’re insufferable. If I weren’t doing this right now, I’d be looking at photos of my baby granddaughter, Sinclair. Auntie Lucy and Uncle Jake love her very much too."
