Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman are the definition of friendly exes.
On Monday, January 15, the Cheers alum and the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star hit the red carpet at the 75th Emmy Awards. The two even happily posed alongside their daughter, Lucy DeVito.
However, DeVito, 79, and Perlman, 75, were not in attendance as one another's dates, as they both were tapped as presenters for the Emmys, which had been rescheduled to 2024 amid the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023.
For Perlman, she reunited with Cheers co-stars Ted Danson, Kelsey Grammer, George Wendt, and John Ratzenberger to serve as presenters. Similarly, DeVito also got together with his It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-stars—Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Kaitlin Olson—to do a comedy bit before presenting a trophy at the annual awards show.
Still, Perlman seemed to be on DeVito's mind as he gave a sweet shout-out during the joke. "Even Rhea won four for Cheers," DeVito quipped about his estranged wife's past Emmy wins as the camera panned to a laughing Perlman.
As for more insight into Perlman and DeVito's dynamic since separating, which first occurred in 2012? Perlman shared on Julia Louis-Dreyfus' podcast, Wiser Than Me, in May, "Danny and I, we are still married… and we are still very good friends and we see each other a lot. And our family is still the most important thing to both of us."
"I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, it was very difficult at first," she continued at the time. For those who may not know, Perlman and DeVito reunited in 2013 before separating again in 2017.
"And there were a lot of reasons that we separated," she added. "It took time for us to come to this somehow pretty decent understanding and relationship with each other."
DeVito and Perlman, who are known for sharing the small screen on the sitcom Taxi, began dating in 1971 and tied the knot in January 1982.
The two performers share three adult children: the aforementioned Lucy, as well as Grace and Jacob.
