Dara's Long Search for Black Boots Ended With This Western-Inspired Pair
They're like a French girl's take on cowboy boots.
Shopping for black boots is no simple task: Much like the dating pool in New York City, there are infinite options — many of which look better online than they do in person. Plus, it's hard to decide whether to go with a more trend-driven, statement style or to commit to a no frills, timeless leather shoe. I'm currently having this sartorial debate, because I'm in the market to replace my suede pointed-toe ankle boots that have endured multiple winters and are a dirty ash shade as a result.
After nearly a month of searching for their replacement, I was ready to give up and wear my peach-colored Paloma Wool boots to death this season until I stumbled upon the perfect pair on a recent visit to Sézane. I stopped into the store to check out the pretty cardigan selection, but I was immediately greeted by western-inspired black boots and left dreaming about them instead of the label's soft-touch knits. The leather shoes, which hit slightly above the ankle and have a two-inch heel, are like a French girl's take on cowboy boots — the toe isn't too pointy and the embroidery detail is ever so subtle.
Sézane Penelope Boots, $275, available here.
