Dave Holmes and Busy Philipps Know a Jazz Club Worth Booking a Plane Ticket For

Today, dear Esquire readers, is a good day. Why, you ask? Our multitalented editor-at-large/tour guide/cultural critic Dave Holmes is back with a new episode of his ongoing video series, "In Transit."

If you're unfamiliar with the travel show, "In Transit" sees Holmes meet up with and interview a celebrity at an airport bar. Together, they take you, the intrepid viewer, through the best spots in their city of choice. (By the way, the idea for "In Transit" came after Holmes wrote an ode to the airport bar.). Last episode saw Holmes and Skylar Astin discuss the ins and outs of New Orleans. Now, in the new edition, Holmes, along with actor, podcaster, and activist Busy Phillipps, names best the spots for food and booze in Pittsburgh, PA. In the interview, the two reminisce on Phillips's time in Freaks and Geeks, her podcast, Busy Phillips is Doing Her Best, motherhood, and her traveling tips.

As for their tour through the City of Bridges? The first stop is Grand Concourse, an old train station that has been now converted into a restaurant. It has some of the best seafood you'll come across in the area. (Try the cod and clams. Thank us later.) The next stop on the list is a jazz spot—and an official Esquire Best Bar—Con Alma, which translates to "with soul." Along with music from local jazz legends, Con Alma serves stellar Latin cuisine, including Holmes's favorite: chicken empanadas topped with spicy pineapple sauce. Of course, there's an extensive cocktail list, but you'll be having the carrot sangria.
