When asked about the loss of the nanny to their two-year-old son Rennie, Foster told Entertainment Tonight that it’s been “tough” for his wife.
“Yeah, it's been tough. She's managing,” he elaborated, as McPhee weighed in, simply stating, "Thank you.”
The statement is the first made by the couple following the news that McPhee was leaving her joint tour with Foster in Jakarta, Indonesia due to a “family emergency.”
At the time, the Smash alum wrote on Instagram: "It's with heavy heart I announce I have to miss the final 2 shows of our Asia run. David and I have a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us needs to get back home to our family."
She continued of the "Hitman Asia Tour,” telling fans, "Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return one day and perform for you all."

It was later revealed that the caretaker for the couple’s only child together, Yadira Calito, died after being hit at a Toyota dealership in California on Aug. 9.
In a press release about the tragic accident, police revealed that Calito was killed after an 84-year-old woman drove her 2017 Toyota RAV4 through the service center of the dealership.
Calito was reportedly pinned under the vehicle and dragged for 20 feet before she was freed. She was transported to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. While the driver came out unscathed, two employees and a customer were also injured in the collision.
The 55-year-old is survived by her fiancé Jaime, her kids Diana, Luis, Juan and Pamela, along with eight grandchildren and three more on the way, according to the obituary shared online.
Since the accident, McPhee and Foster reunited on stage at a private concert at the Villa Rufulo in Italy on Aug. 22. They also announced a holiday album, with their first single, "Amazing Grace," out on Oct. 6 before the album, Christmas Songs, drops on Oct 20.
