David Foster Shows Off His Toddler's Drumming 'Progress'
It’s no surprise that Katharine McPhee and David Foster’s toddler is proving to be a protégée!
Rennie David, 2, whom the musical couple welcomed in 2021, may have a lucrative career as a percussionist ahead of him, as evidenced by an impressive video posted by his famous dad on Instagram late last week.
“PROGRESS!! 2yrs 3mon,” he proudly captioned the clip, which found the tot facing away from the camera as he pounded away on an appropriately-sized drumset. He wore a pair of bright blue headphones, possibly dampening the sound or playing a backtrack for him to follow, and red and black pajamas as he performed on the shiny blue setup.
Friends and fans alike were thoroughly impressed with the beat he produced, praising the performance in the comments.
"Wow!!!!!!! Most amazing thing ever!!!!!" Michael Orland, a musician who worked on American Idol, wrote.
"Genius!!! But why am I not surprised? Xxc," songwriter Carole Bayer Sager said.
"How on earth is his rhythm on point! Incredible ?? Someone is proud sporting your genes," another comment read.
At the start of the year, the composer shared another video of the boy "finding his groove" with the instrument, stomping on a pedal to activate the cymbals and tapping on them with his drumstick. Just a few months later, he shared a video where Rennie was messing around with a pair of chopsticks on the table, but even in play it was clear he's got rhythm!
It just goes to show that practice does indeed make perfect.
