David Spade speaks out after sister-in-law Kate Spade's suicide: 'It's a rough world out there'

David Spade took to Twitter Tuesday evening to pay a brief but moving tribute to his sister-in-law, Kate Spade, after her reported suicide.

The "Saturday Night Live" alum affectionately referred to his brother's wife as "Katy" in a recent photo of the two together.

"Katy at my book signing. I love this pic of her. So pretty," he wrote. "I don't think everyone knew how f--king funny she was."

He added, "It's a rough world out there people. Try to hang on."

Earlier in the day, a distressed-looking David was spotted embracing a woman in Los Angeles.

Kate wed David's brother, Andy, in 1994. Their daughter, Frances Beatrix, was born in 2005.

Kate's unexpected death at 55 sent shockwaves through the United States and beyond. Though she sold her namesake brand about a decade ago to devote more time to her daughter, her whimsical, cheerful style has continued to dominate women's fashion.

David did not comment on the concerning alleged contents of Kate's suicide note, which she reportedly addressed to her 13-year-old daughter: "Bea - I have always loved you. This is not your fault. Ask Daddy!" the note read, according to reports.
