David Tutera Is Launching His Own Namesake Bridal Collection With Nine Custom Couture Gowns
David Tutera has, as Rihanna would say, love on the brain. The popular wedding planner and TV star announced Monday, January 28, that he is set to launch his highly anticipated David Tutera Bridal line at the end of the month, with “love, romance and beauty” at the heart of it all.
“My passion for weddings comes from my family story that started in Italy, and I am proud to continue the family tradition,” Tutera says in a press release to The Knot. “My grandfather owned a flower shop and was quite successful designing the flowers for weddings. My grandmother was a seamstress and made sure every bridal gown was fit to perfection. My aunt owned a bridal boutique selling and making wedding gowns including my mom’s wedding gown.”
“I guess making weddings special is in the family genes,” he continues. “It is with great pride and excitement that I bring the beauty and style of fashion to the world of weddings.”
The David Tutera Bridal collection will feature nine custom couture gowns and matching veils, which he’ll roll out one a week starting January 31. All of the gowns were designed by Tutera himself, and were created in hopes of helping brides float “down the aisle in style.”
The luxury gowns are all made-to-order and will be created to match each individual bride’s measurements. They will be available on Tutera’s online wedding space, www.davidtutera.com, and retail between $4,800 and $9,900, with veils starting at $300 and running up to $1,100.
“I have been part of the wedding business for over 30 years, from fashion to flowers and everything in between,” he says. “My goal is to bring fashion in bridal to a place it truly deserves to be. Grooms have Bespoke for their fashion where they can have custom suits created for them. Now, with David Tutera Bridal, brides can truly have a made to order gown.”
Tutera has previously worked on planning events with such household names as Matthew McConaughey, Shannen Doherty and Prince Charles, among others. What sets his work in the wedding space apart from his other ventures into fashion, he says, is that he is leading from a place of love first.
“I have always said … the most important and special fashion a woman will wear in her life is her wedding gown,” he says. “It’s a magical moment and a moment that is surrounded by love. Each wedding gown design has unique fabrics, textures, and details that embody love, and romance and beauty. I have personally designed each gown, selected the fabrics, and researched to see what is needed in the world of weddings.”
Tutera had previously designed for Mon Cheri. This, however, will be his first and very own namesake collection.
