Dax Shepard Reveals the Secret Behind Coexisting with Kristen Bell

Two months ago, Kristen Bell changed our lives when she opened up about the “toxic” dating habit Dax Shepard helped her break. And now, the CHiPs star just dropped the best marriage advice we’ve ever heard. 

In a recent interview, Shepard revealed the reason his marriage with Bell is so successful is because they have zero expectations. He said, “We don’t believe in The One. We don’t believe in the fairy tale. We don’t believe that you can meet someone and you have perfectly matching personalities.”

Once he and Bell were able to accept their differences, they could then focus their attention on making their bond as strong as possible. He added, “We are opposites, and it has taken a tremendous amount of work and therapy for us to coexist.”

While many fans look up to them and their perfectly imperfect relationship, Shepard went on to say that he doesn’t want people to get the wrong idea. He continued, “My only fear is that people see us and think, ‘Oh, I just need to find my Kristen Bell.’ That’s not true. You’ll find your Kristen Bell, but guess what, now the work starts. [Relationships] are labor intensive. If you want them to last, they are labor intensive.”

Bravo, Dax. We really needed this.
