Dear Bobbi: Please Tell Me How to Apply Concealer So It Covers Up Dark Circles
Introducing “Dear Bobbi,” our monthly advice column in which makeup mogul Bobbi Brown will be answering your beauty and wellness questions. Have something you want to ask Bobbi? Send it to [email protected].
Hi, Bobbi:
First off, I love your products!
Hoping you can help me out with something. I’m always confused about which concealer to get for my under-eye circles. Do I pick one that’s lighter than my skin tone? Or do I match it to my skin tone exactly? And what’s the best way to apply it? I’d like to perfect this look.
Thanks,
Jeanne

Dear Jeanne,
First of all, thank you for your kind words. While I am no longer with the brand, I am still very proud of what I created while I was there. Speaking of products, let’s talk about your concealer conundrum.
I’ve always said that concealer is the best-kept secret of the universe. However, to reap its full benefits, it must be applied correctly—which can certainly be tricky, so here are my best tips for getting it right.
If you have any darkness under your eyes, I suggest starting with a color-correcting product with a pink or peach tone. This will help lighten up the dark areas. After you have color corrected the shadows underneath your eyes, it’s time for your concealer.
As for what kind to get, I’d recommend one that has yellow undertones and is one shade lighter than your foundation. The concealer should be applied to the innermost corners of your eyes, underneath the eyes and all the way to the outer corners of the eyes. Gently pat (never rub) it onto your skin and set it with a sheer yellow-toned powder to finish and look instantly refreshed.
xx Bobbi
