Deepika Padukone Looks Like Hollywood Royalty as She Makes Her Oscars Debut
Deepika Padukone made her Oscars debut this evening. The Indian actress, who is set to present this evening, looked glamorous in a bespoke Louis Vuitton black gown and a Cartier necklace, an ensemble which looked elegant against the champagne-colored carpet.
Padukone completed her outfit with black opera gloves, a very trendy style—even royals like Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, have recently leaned into the accessory. The Cartier necklace makes sense for the star, as she became a Cartier ambassador this past fall.
Before heading to the carpet, Padukone posted a series of portraits in tonight's dress on her Instagram, simply captioning the posts, "#Oscars95," in reference to this being the 95th year of the Academy Awards.
Padukone, a mainstay of Bollywood cinema, recently appeared in Pathaan, an action thriller that is currently the second highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.
It's a big night for Indian cinema at the Oscars: The song "Naatu Naatu," from the hit RRR, is up for best original song, making RRR the first Indian feature film to score a nomination outside the best international film category. In addition, Shaunak Sen's All That Breathes and Kartiki Gonsalves's The Elephant Whisperers are nominated in the best documentary and best documentary short, respectively.
It's as yet unclear which award Padukone is set to present, but she definitely looks like Hollywood glamour. Other presenters include Harrison Ford, Nicole Kidman, Samuel L Jackson, Dwayne Johnson,Andrew Garfield, Zoe Salda?a, Sigourney Weaver, and Halle Berry.
