The Delicious Breakfast Upgrade That Social Media's Biggest Culinary Hacker Says Is 'Perfect'
If anyone in my life were to ask me what my favorite snack is, without any hesitation I would tell them that it’s a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It is my old-faithful, my most reliable, my never deniable, all-time favorite sandwich. And depending on my mood, I have different variations of preparations to match the occasion.
Normally, I shoot for the creamy version, but some days, I opt to go with a chunky peanut butter. Maybe I’ll switch up the bread and bounce around from honey-wheat to brioche. Heck sometimes, I may even toast the bread. But what I just saw social media star @Jorddan_Thee_Stallion8 do with an Uncrustable on TikTok has me wondering how on earth I never thought of doing this myself. While I discovered the hack on TikTok
Now I typically don’t go straight for the Uncrustables when grocery shopping myself, but I do keep a few around for those “break glass in case of emergency” situations. It's not that I’m not a fan of them, It’s really just because I enjoy making my own sandwiches. But now that my eyes have been opened to the possibility of turning these little treats into French toast delicacies, I’m ready to add them to the variation rotation.

Ingredients for French Toast Uncrustables
You need the same ingredients you’d need to make a regular French toast, plus your preferred flavor of Uncrustable, of course. For this recipe, I went with one grape jelly and peanut butter, and one chocolate and hazelnut. Beyond that, you’ll need about 2/3 cup of milk, two eggs, some ground cinnamon, and a bit of vanilla extract.
How to Make French Toast Uncrustables
Making this gourmet treat is really quite simple. First, make your French toast batter by mixing the milk, eggs, cinnamon and vanilla extract in a bowl. Then soak both sides of your Uncrustable in the batter, before throwing it on a heated skillet with some melted butter. Flip your Uncrustable so that it cooks on both sides, or until each side is golden brown. That's it!
What I Thought of French Toast Uncrustables
This remix to the already perfect Uncrustable was an unexpectedly delicious upgrade. By itself, the Uncrustable is an unmatched treat, perfect for lunch or a snack. But after adding the fixings of the French toast batter, the new rendition can even make the perfect breakfast item—or dessert.
I don’t know if it’s the butter, the cinnamon, or the crispy edges—heck it could be all of the above. What I do know though, is that as long as I have an egg and some milk nearby, this will be the only way I can enjoy my Uncrustables from here on out. And yes, that goes for both the grape jelly and peanut butter and hazelnut and chocolate versions.
The butter, vanilla and cinnamon amplify the sweetness of the filling, while the heat and crispiness on the Uncrustables from the skillet add warmth and texture. It was basically like I turned a pre-packaged snack into a homemade pastry. And, I'm not complaining one bit.
Tips for Making French Toast Uncrustables
1. Don’t skimp on the cinnamon. Traditional French toast, in my opinion, is nothing without the taste and aroma of cinnamon, and this Uncrustable version is no different.
2. Make sure your skillet is hot. Make sure you melt the butter in the skillet before adding your Uncrustable. Adding the sandwich to a hot skillet will make sure that you can cook the Uncrustables fully and get that crispy golden brown exterior.
3. Let it cool fully before eating. Although the outside might seem ready to eat, the inner filling will need a bit more time to cool before you take that first bite. Nobody wants to eat peanut butter and jelly lava.
