Demi Lovato’s Breathtaking Angel Tattoo Is Representative of Her “Spiritual Awakening”
Demi Lovato got a stunning angel tattoo on her back.
Her tattoo artist says it “represents a rebirth of the spirit,” which is beyond beautiful.

Imagine going in for a permanent tattoo...and not having a single clue what you’re going to walk out with? Believe it or not, this is what Demi did when she got an angel tattoo back in December.
On Instagram, Demi let her fans in on what it was like to get her back tattoo done, and she revealed that coming up with the symbolic angel image was an organic process. Apparently, Demi told her tattoo artist about everything she’s been through, and together they came up with a drawing that represented her journey thus far.
Demi wrote:
“I recently went dark on social media in preparation for my Grammy and Super Bowl performances but while I was off socials I got this incredibly meaningful tattoo done by @Alessandro_Capozzi. Getting tatted by him was an experience I’ve never had before...no idea what I was going to get done, I told him about my life and where I was at in that moment and we created a combination of images that best symbolized the spiritual awakening I was having. Having a fallen angel being lifted by 3 pure, angelic doves (the Holy trinity) as her inner light is being guided by a higher consciousness, and the disintegration of her dark wings was representing the darkness I was shedding. Alessandro—you are extremely talented and I can’t wait for more!! Thank you for this special experience...the only bummer is I can’t physically see this amazing artwork because it’s on my back! Haha. Also shout-out to @ScooterBraun for introducing us! ?????? P.S. I still can’t believe how lifelike this looks and it healed amazing as well. ????????????”

Um, what’s that official slogan for Pringles potato chips? Oh yeah, that’s right—it’s something along the lines of “Once you pop, you can’t stop.” Sorry if I suddenly inundated your thoughts with that cheesy Pringles commercial of the ’90s or gave you a relentless craving for chips (don’t do it—there are Christmas leftovers in the fridge!), but the very same slogan can be applied to tattoos. Once you pop a tattoo onto your bod, it’s kinda hard to stop yourself from getting another—especially if you’re Demi Lovato.
Case in point: Demi just got some fresh new ink, less than 10 days from her last tattoo session (homegirl’s tolerance must be insane!). As always, Demi’s tattoo choices holds a very special meaning to her, and this time was no different. On the top of her back, Demi got the most stunning, custom-made angel tattoo that’s symbolic of rebirth.
Beautiful, isn’t it? The tattoo has a equally beautiful meaning, according to her tattoo artist, Alessandro Capozzi. On Instagram, he wrote, “We created this piece together to represent a rebirth of the spirit. The dark wings represent the bad times, their fading away is how she moved forward. The light from within represents the inner strength necessary for the change and the doves, pulling her up, symbolize the reach of an higher state of consciousness. Congratulations on your inspiring journey Demi, honored to have represented this for you.”
Demi expressed her gratitude, and replied, “Thank you so much ???? it’s incredible and you are so extremely talented ????” in the comments. TMZ reported that Alessandro started the piece at noon and finished at 8 p.m., meaning the whole process took around eight hours. Clearly, it was worth it!
