FOWLERVILLE — Fowlerville is preparing for six days of summer fun.
The Fowlerville Family Fair runs Monday-Saturday, July 22-27, at 8800 W. Grand River Ave.
Sean Oberg serves on the Fowlerville Agricultural Society Board of Directors, which governs the fair. Oberg said the planning for this year’s fair began last summer after the 2023 event.
“We do this for the residents of the county, and we do this for the kids... We like to put on a good experience,” Oberg said.
How much does it cost to attend the fair?
Tickets are $5 per person, though children aged four and under enter free. Parking is free.
What are the grandstand events this year?
Monday, July 22: Harness Racing (5 p.m.)
Tuesday, July 23: Harness Racing (11 a.m.) and Demolition Figure Derby (8 p.m.)
Wednesday, July 24: Demolition Derby Bump and Run (8 p.m.)
Thursday, July 25: Thumb Tractor Pull (6 p.m.)
Friday and Saturday, July 26-27: Lost Nations Rodeo (7 p.m.)
Tickets can be purchased online at fowlervillefamilyfair.com. There will be live music each night before the grandstand events, including the national anthem, Oberg said.
When are carnival hours?
The carnival runs Tuesday-Saturday. Rides are open 1-11 p.m. except Kids Day on Wednesday, when the midway opens at 12 p.m.
Ride armbands are $30 except on Kids Day, when they sell for $25. Wristbands can be purchased online at fowlervillefamilyfair.com. Skerbeck Entertainment Group is providing the carnival rides and games.
What are this year's special events?
A spelling bee is planned for Wednesday in the Iosco Methodist Episcopal Church. There will be two competitions: one for students who've recently completed fifth or sixth grade and another for students who've recently completed seventh or eighth grade.
Pre-registration runs 9-10 a.m. the day of the spelling bee. The competition for fifth and sixth graders will begin at 10 a.m. and the competition for seventh and eighth graders will start afterward.
A draft horse show is set for 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The all-breed show will include Belgian, Percheron, Clydesdale and Shire.
The Home Arts Competition is returning after a hiatus in 2023, with entries in hundreds of classes.
The Fair Queen, Homemaker of the Year and Citizen of the Year will also be named during fair week.
When are the big 4-H events?
The small animal auction begins at 2 p.m. Thursday and the large animal auction starts at 2 p.m. Friday. The still life auction starts at 10 a.m. Saturday. Learn more at fowlervillefamilyfair.com.
Oberg said there’s a lot of excitement for this year’s fair and thanked everyone involved for putting their time and effort into the event.
