She told me that it's a "great multi-tasker."
Whenever I visit my longtime dermatologist, I always ask her for product recommendations. Not does Nazanin Saedi, MD, board-certified dermatologist at Dermatology Associates of Plymouth Meeting, holds a medical degree with a speciality in skin, but she has amassed a pretty large following on social media. She regularly shares her top product picks, ranging from drugstore steals to splurge-worthy medical grade serums and solutions she sells in her Philadelphia office. Her skin is also flawless, despite the fact that she doesn’t appear to wear very much makeup.
During a recent visit, I asked Dr. Saedi about her summer beauty must-haves. Her top pick? The Alastin HydraTint Pro Sunscreen SPF 36, a sunscreen that not only protects your skin but offers just enough coverage.
“The Alastin HydraTint is a great multitasker,” she says about the Martha Steward-used skin tint. “It’s an amazing sunscreen with anti-aging benefits.” First off, “it has zinc oxide as a physical blocker,” offering SPF 36 protection from the sun. It also contains phytoene and phytofluene, “great antioxidants,” she adds.
Both her and 82-year-old Stewart agree that the Alastin sunscreen offers just enough tint to camouflage any imperfections. “I personally love the coverage from the tint,” she says, promising that it “blends with so many” skin types. “It doubles as my foundation,” she declares.
In February during the season two premier of “The Martha Stewart Podcast,” the lifestyle guru talked about all things skincare with her cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Dan Belkin. Stewart revealed that she slathers Alastin Hydratint on her skin “every single morning” to maintain her glow after the MD turned her onto it. In fact, she “loves [it] so much” she won’t “leave the house with it,” Stewart declared. “It really works, and it looks like you have some makeup on.”
While shoppers of all ages adore the skin tint, those with mature skin are especially appreciative. “I am a 55-year-old woman with mild wrinkles and foundation just seems to accentuate them, but this product gives me just enough coverage without highlighting the wrinkles,” one reviewer wrote. Another added that it “evens out” their skin tone while “concealing” wrinkles. Others add that it is “not at all chalky” and “barely detectable,” leaving skin “dewy and radiant.”
My advice? Add the Alastin HydraTint Pro Sunscreen SPF 36 to your cart ASAP. And if you’re thinking about stocking up on some other derm-approved products from Alastin, check out Dr. Saedi’s other recommendations, below.
Alastin's Restorative Skin Complex with TriHex Technology
“This one is a splurge, but worth it,” says Dr. Saedi. It includes Alastin's proprietary TriHex Technology, a group of peptides that “help support and boost the production of collagen and elastin,’ she says. “It also contains niacinamide to help hydrate and protect the skin.”
Alastin A-LUMINATE Brightening Serum
Dr. Saedi promises that this retinol-free brightening serum “is a great addition to anyone's routine who is trying to tackle unwanted discoloration that includes dark spots, age spots, and hyperpigmentation.” The brand’s proprietary technology “can minimize the recurrence of surface pigmentation and prevent sun damage,” she adds. It also contains tranexamic acid, ”which is becoming increasingly popular for treating hyperpigmentation on the face.”
