All The Designers We Loved from New York Bridal Fashion Week 2019
New York Bridal Fashion Week 2019 defined bridal #goals. Picture a week full of jaw-dropping gowns with trains for miles, eloquent, hand-applied embellishments, cascading, cloud-like skirts… you get the idea! The team at SMP team had the privilege of attending, and today, they're back to report on some of their favorite shows debuting trends for 2020. Scroll on to get the scoop and get ready to start swooning.
Eisen Stein
Eisen Stein Fall's 2020 Collection delivered a "wild wings" theme in a way that was tasteful, clever, and even a bit thrilling. From crystal-accented gowns with foliage-like arrangements, to feather details, and plunging necklines with flowing trails, every strut down the runway was filled with magical and unexpected moments, just like the wilderness vibe behind it.
Monique Lhullier
There's no shortage of florals with this designer, and her 2020 Fall Collection was no exception to this. With a “celebration of life” beat, each runway debut included lively renditions of botanical prints and appliques so indicative of the seasons of life. With accents like billowing leaves, removable capes, and color, color, color (!) the selection was fun and uplifting, just like Lhullier’s main message behind the showcase.
Inbar Frieman
Inbar Freiman's 2020 Wild Feather Collection appeased the appetite of every New York Bridal Fashion Week attendee. Her dresses were form-flattering and detail-oriented with their unique beading and accents, but they were also effortless and every day practical too. Made with quality, breathable fabrics, they promise to feel just as wonderful as they look.
Galia Lahav
Lead designers, Galia Lahav and Sharon Sever, paid homage to the sea and all its mystifying qualities in their 2020 IX Bridal Collection. Viewers were dazzled by sequins (reminiscent of water droplets), striking metals (mirroring the scales of sea creatures), and hypnotic, mermaid-like silhouettes. The power and beauty behind every style that swam, er, strutted down the aisle were mesmerizing and refreshing, akin to that of a rising and falling tide in a great watery oasis.
Anne Barge
With Anne Barge celebrating 20 years of wedding style, her 2020 Fall Collection included a showcase of the evolution of her selections. Starting with old-school vintage and feminine styles, transitioning to bold tulle and 3D textures, and ending with present-day jumpsuits and illusion necklines, each phase of the fashion house's history was represented in a tasteful and meaningful way, much to the delight of the 2020 bride.
Maggie Sottero
Between Maggie Sottero, Sottero and Midgley, and Rebecca Ingram, the three labels (under the same umbrella) provide excellent options. Their 2020 collection exemplifies this by offering a little something for every new bride. From short, playful frocks, to trendy off-the-shoulder looks, to intricate geometric lace, each option encapsulates a different look and feel. Just take this lovely new Rebecca Ingram design, for example. Paired with sweet tulle straps and an intricate bodice, it could cater to either a rustic *or* romantic bride.
Berta
In Berta's 2020 Napoli Collection, you'll still see the designer’s signature sleek cuts and unique fabrications used. One differentiation to note here, however, is the new type of fabrics, embroidery, and beading shown. The new-to-us parade of glitz and glamour was a crowd-pleaser. (Just wait until you see it too!)
