New Details Surface Over Katharine McPhee's Nanny's Tragic Death
Days after Katharine McPhee stepped away from her husband David Foster's tour due to an undisclosed family emergency—which TMZ reported as the loss of their son's nanny—new details have emerged about the tragic incident.
According to a new report from the publication, 2-year-old Rennie David's nanny, Yadira Calito, died after she was struck by a vehicle at a Toyota dealership in San Fernando Valley, Calif.
Sources told TMZ that Calito was in the customer reception area of Hamer Toyota last Wednesday morning when an 84-year-old woman accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake, sending her SUV careening from the service bay's driveway into the building.
Calito was reportedly pinned under the vehicle and dragged for 20 feet before she was freed. She was transported to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Two employees were also injured but are expected to make full recoveries. The driver has not been arrested at this time, according to the publication.
The Smash alum first made known a family tragedy the following day, ahead of the final shows of the Asian leg of David Foster's tour, posting on Instagram, "It's with heavy heart I announce I have to miss the final 2 shows of our Asia run. David and I have a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us needs to get back home to our family. Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return one day and perform for you all."
McPhee has remained mum since then, not yet directly confirming the loss.
