This Detroit Lions Fan Is So Sure They'll Win the Super Bowl He Got a Tattoo of It
The Detroit Lions are set to face off against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game on Jan. 28. The team has enjoyed a good winning record this season and could be well on their way to their first Super Bowl next month. But one Lions fan is so confident about their future success that he's permanently marked their (potential) future Super Bowl victory on his skin.
Michigan resident and diehard Lions fan Alex Chepeska got the team's logo and the Vince Lombardi Trophy tattooed on his upper arm with the words "Lions Super Bowl Champs 2024." It wasn't a decision he made when he saw the Lions were doing well and had a shot at playing in the big game; he got the ink before the season even started.
"I've never been so sure of anything in my life," Chepeska told CBS News of his preemptive skin artwork. "I got this in early August, a week before the first preseason game, and I knew they were doing it, it's happening."
The Lions went on to win 12 games in the regular season, though the team has never won a Super Bowl in its nearly 100-year history. As far as his tattoo goes, Chepeska admitted he's gotten mixed reactions to the piece. "Yeah, there is a few haters out there, but mostly everyone has been positive," he said, noting that observers began changing their tune as the season went on. "The longer it goes, the more people are on board."
If the Lions do end up winning the Super Bowl, Chepeska should consider buying a lottery ticket next. "It feels like destiny," he said of the Lions' Super Bowl chances. "It's our turn."
