Did Bachelor Peter Weber Propose in the Season 24 Finale and Now What?
Did the ring get its own set of wings? If you’re wondering whether Bachelor Peter Weber (also endearingly known to the masses as Pilot Pete) proposes in the Season 24 finale of the smash reality competition series, the answer is… yes. But it was short-lived.
Rounding out yet another dramatic season of ABC’s smash reality dating franchise, Pilot Pete dropped to one knee during the finale episode, which aired in a two-part special, and asked Hannah Ann Sluss to be his wife. During the second part of the finale special, viewers witnessed an intense internal struggle before Hannah Ann showed up to the final rose ceremony. Accompanying the hefty decision of whether she should stay or go (much like her predecessor Madison Prewett) was longtime host Chris Harrison communicating the behind-the-scenes updates to Weber.
Thankfully (and eventually not), in remote Alice Springs, Australia, Weber proposed to his finalist. But that’s when the “most dramatic season ever” truly went into effect. As cameras pivoted between the live show and the taping, Peter’s mother, Barb, had a rather tough time containing her expressions. The Weber family matriarch created an uproar Monday when it was finally revealed why she broke down on camera (after weeks of ABC teasing the incident). It was long believed that the plea was intended for Madi, when in fact, her emotional breakdown was for Hannah Ann.

But what would be a return home without a change of heart? Like franchise predecessors Jason Mesnick and Arie Luyendyk Jr., current Bachelor Peter Weber ultimately ended up retracting his engagement to Hannah Ann in pursuit of his runner-up. (Perhaps others?) Viewers witnessed Hannah Ann speak out against Weber, who was left apologizing to his former fiancée. “I’m so sorry,” he murmured. “I never expected this to happen.”
“I don’t need anything more from you,” she said, after pointing out how Weber took away her first engagement. “You’ve done enough damage.” Fans lauded Hannah Ann for her strength and vulnerability, despite the shock of her relationship ending in such a way.
It was an incredibly challenging season to document (and from producers’ ends, to keep spoilers contained) with the rapidly evolving use of social media. Days before the finale aired Monday, a Reddit thread containing possible spoilers went viral under a Bachelor subthread. The contents revealed photo evidence of Sluss getting cozy with former UT quarterback Josh Dobbs while out and about in Tennessee.

Still, Hannah Ann was celebrated Tuesday for her scathing remarks in the aftermath. “If you want to be with a woman, you need to become a real man,” she said at one point, adding in another: “I’m strong and I’ve been my own rock throughout this. And you don’t have to worry about me.”
The question of whether Weber and Madison are in a solid place now is still just that: a question mark. Especially since Barb had choice words for her son. “You have to fail to succeed,” she mused.
