Bachelor nation, did you catch that moment on last night's episode of Peter's season? No, not the champagne explosion heard 'round the world, but rather the iconic design cameo? If you don't have the rabid design radar we do, let us break it down for you: Around the time Kelsey was being sprayed in the face with a bottle of champagne, the rest of the women on last night's group date were in their natural state—that is to say, drinking and gossiping while languidly lounging in formalwear. This time, though, instead of the usual casual-industrial backdrop of whatever rooftop bar ABC has rented out, the women's backdrop was something much more exciting: Martinique, the iconic banana-leaf pattern that catapulted textile company C.W. Stockwell to fame (not to be confused with the other iconic banana-leaf pattern, Dorothy Draper's Brazillianceread about the differences here).

The leafy, tropical print was inspired by a trip onetime Stockwell heads Remy and Lucille Chatain took to the Bahamas, and rose to icon status when designer Don Loper used it to swathe the wall of the oft-photographed Beverly Hills Hotel. Last year, the brand reintroduced the print for the first time in decades—a smart move given its clearly ever-strong cultural importance.

Martinique's most famous TV turn, though, sadly doesn't involve 30 twentysomethings clamoring for the affection of a commercial airline pilot—rather, it has to do with a group of much more, er, mature ladies: The pattern graced the walls and bed of none other than Blanche Devereaux on the beloved Golden Girls. So beloved was this bedroom decor that producers had to keep it hidden under lock and key in the off-season, current C.W. Stockwell CEO Katy Polsby tells House Beautiful. Who knows, perhaps The Bachelor effect will inspire another frenzy for the print—we'd cheers our champagne to that.
