Did You Spot the Easter Egg in Kim Cattrall's 'AJLT' Cameo?
And just like that, Kim Cattrall is back! The Sex and the City star reprised her iconic role as Samantha Jones to say goodbye to Carrie Bradshaw's apartment in the And Just Like That Season 2 finale.
Cattrall's long-awaited appearance took place at the beginning of the episode. Calling Carrie from a car in London, Samantha told Sarah Jessica Parker's character that she was "f-cking furious" that she would no longer be able to surprise her at her "Last Supper" in New York because her flight from Heathrow was delayed.

"You were flying all the way to New York for an overnight?" Carrie asked her pal, to which Samantha replied, "Well, it is your apartment, and I have to pay my respects."
Instead, Samantha bid farewell to Carrie's place over the phone. "Thank you for everything. You f-cking fabulous, fabulous flat," Samantha said on speakerphone.
Asked if she now has a British accent, Samantha said, "Who's Samantha? This is Annabelle Bronstein. I'm from Injah. Ta and cheerio." (Fans of the original series will spot the Easter egg: Annabelle Bronstein is the name that Samantha used to get into the pool of the Soho House club during a heatwave in Manhattan.)

"And have a great night," Samantha added.
News that Cattrall would be making a brief cameo in the Max spinoff's finale was leaked ahead of the Season 2 premiere. Discussing Samantha's return with Forbes, showrunner Michael Patrick King admitted, "My goal was to keep it a secret as much as we did Big’s death, but didn’t happen. It kind of magically just appeared. It was fun to write Samantha again. It’s great to see her in the show.”
Cattrall has told TODAY's Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager that the cameo is "as far as I'm gonna go."
“I don’t think I’ll ever say goodbye to Samantha,” she said. “She’s like a lot of other characters that I’ve done over the years. I get very emotionally attached and protective of my characters. She gave me so much and I’m so appreciative of her.”
In addition to Samantha, Season 2 also brought back Aidan Shaw (John Corbett). Although he missed Carrie's party in the finale, Aidan showed up after the dinner and finally entered Carrie's apartment, which he'd been avoiding all season. Aidan explained to Carrie that he had to go back to Norfolk, Virginia, because his son Wyatt needs him, but assured Carrie, "I won't lose you again. Okay? I won't." He asked for time, specifically five years—five years!—until Wyatt is out of his teens.
Before he left, Carrie told Aidan that whatever happens, the two of them and her new place were not a mistake. "Nothing's gonna happen," Aidan said.
With the Max series renewed for a third season, fans will just have to wait and see whether or not that's true.
